Veggie Cutlet Burger

When the kids are bored of eating vegetables, I usually try to do something fun to make them eat without fussing. The easiest way... make a burger. Just throw in all the veggies and make them into a patty and the kids will not even guess the number of veggies they ate. Here is my simple recipe.

      Ingredients

      Veggies for the Patty

      • 2 Cups Potatoes, (cubed)
      • 1/2 Cup Frozen Green Peas
      • 1 Cup Carrots, (cubed)
      • 1/4 Cup Cauliflower florets
      • 1/4 Cup Green Beans, (chopped)
      • Water For Boiling the veggies

      Spices for the Patty

      • Salt , to taste
      • 3/4 Teaspoon Ginger garlic paste
      • 1/2 Teaspoon Garam Masala
      • A Pinch Black Pepper
      • 5 Tablespoons Bread Crumbs
      • A pinch Turmeric Powder
      • A handfull Cilantro, (finely chopped)

      For Coating the patty

      • 2 Tablespooons Besan Flour
      • 1 Cup Breadcrumbs
      • 3 to 4 Tablespoons Water

      Other ingredients

      • Burger Buns
      • Sliced Cucumbers
      • Sliced Tomatoes
      • Sliced Bell Peppers
      • Chips
      • Lettuce
      • Ketchup

      Method

      Preparing the Patty

      • 1)

Chop all the vegetables into small cubes

      • 2)

Add the veggies to a pot of boiling water and boil until they become soft (About 9 minutes)

      • 3)

Drain the veggies and add them to a vessel or pot

      • 4)

        Mash all the veggies together

      • 5)

Add all the ingredients mentioned under the Ingredient group ‘spices for the patty and mix well

      • 6)

The mixture should be just went enough (not sticky). If you feel its sticky, add some more breadcrumbs

      • 7)

Divide the mixture into equal portions and slightly flatten them and set aside on a plate

      Cooking the Patty

      • 1)

Take the Basan flour in a cup and add just a little water to make a batter

      • 2)

In another plate take the breadcrumbs and spread it

      • 3)

Arrange the plates in order – Patties, bowl with batter and the bread crumbs

      • 4)

Now take the patty, dip it on both sides in the batter and then coat them with the breadcrumbs

      • 5)

Place it back on the plate and set aside for about 6 to 7 minutes

      • 6)

Now heat a wide fry pan (low flame) and add 1 tablespoon of oil so you can shallow fry the patties.

      • 7)

Fry the patties on both sides until crisp and have them ready

      Assembling the burger

      • 1)

        Quickly toast the burger buns

      • 2)

On the bun, spread your favorite chutney, spicy mayo or ketchup

      • 3)

Assemble together, bun, patty, cheese slice, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, bell pepper (veggies of your choice) and get the burger ready

      • 4)

I usually add some chips or cheetos to add a crunch

      Notes

You can just eat the patty as a cutlet during tea time too.
